Looking around at queer spaces, especially in New York City, we saw so many events and gatherings that are intense on the senses (loud music/flashing lights), make it difficult to have meaningful conversations, and center around alcohol.
Comedian Hannah Gadsby, in her Netflix special, Nanette, spoke to us in a visceral way, asking:
Where do the quiet gays go?!
So we asked ourselves…
That’s how queeret was born.
queeret is a portmanteau of queer and quiet.
Most of us are introverts, some ambiverts, even a few extroverts.
Some of us are sober, while other are sober curious.
Others still are simply looking for more spaces to have meaningful conversations with other queer people.
A few of our events include qalm and bookqlub.
qalm // our signature monthly event -- part sober gathering. part togetherness. part space to slow down. designed for queer introverts. learn more
bookqlub // as introverts, we love cozying up with a great book, a cozy blanket, and a warm mug of chai tea. then we get together to chat about the book. learn more
